Life is often very funny. Those people who are not married wish to get married and, those who are already married, want something else. What happens if you are not totally fulfilled? The other thing you can do if you are not satisfied in your marriage is get a divorce. The other thing that couples do when they are not satisfied is cheat. Many men and women have been caught doing this. In this generation, cheating is no longer news and, it has become rampant.

The other thing that couples who are married do is to recognize their problems and work on it. An open marriage is one with couples getting their sexual satisfaction from their spouses as well as other people with their full knowledge and consent. Roughly 9% of all marriages in the United States are open. This comes with a realization that other people are necessary to fulfill the desires of relevant partners sexually. We are living in an age where people are governed by decisions. Open marriages are very common in the western countries but, there are other countries which have practiced a form of open marriage for generations. Popular TV shows like Oprah and Tyra Banks have been seen to highlight the topic more. When you choose to have many lovers but still maintain a marriage, it is referred to as a polyamory. An open union will have its own fair share of problems one of them being jealousy.

Is an Arranged Marriage the Key to a Successful Marriage?

Executive summary about arranged marriages by Rebecca Sebekarranged marriage

In India arranged marriages are still the norm. Interestingly enough, the divorce rate is 3% to 7%. Unlike the United States of America which has a divorce rate of 50%. Biological Anthropologist Helen Fisher has researched this subject for numerous years. She conducted research with the help of her colleagues Arthur Aron and Lucy Brown.

Lovers were put into an MRI machine. According to Fisher, “love is not an emotion but a mating device.” The ventral tegmental produces dopamine (stimulant) and sends it to the brain’s reward centers. These are centers for wanting, craving, motivation, focused attention and ecstasy.

According to the study conducted by Fisher, people fall into four categories: explorer, builder, negotiator, and director. People who were “matched” with their so-called “perfect mate did not have a long lasting relationship. The flip side to this study is arranged marriages which are stilled practiced in Indian cultures today. Ads are placed daily in many Indian newspapers by families who are looking for a husband for their daughter and a wife for their son.

One couple showcased in the 20/20 special married via an arranged marriage. The man was tired the “American” dating scene and contacted his family in New Dehli, India to find him a wife. Success! India’s divorce rate is lower than the United States of America. Matrimonial classifieds can be found throughout India. There is something to be said of arranged marriages, honesty. Americans in particular can learn from the Indian culture. People would save a lot of time, money, and tears.

Ask some questions about the man or woman.

Arranged Marriages – Are They For Real?

Executive summary about arranged marriages by Amanda Jane

The custom of arranging marriages is common in Asia particularly among Indians and Muslims.

India

This tradition of arranging marriages is so prevalent in India that at least 95 percent of Indian marriages are said to have been arranged. While the dowry system has been prohibited in India, it is still a considerable factor in arranged marriages.

Elizabethan era

Arranged marriages were the norm during the Elizabethan era considering that feminism has not yet been born and women were very subservient to their parents and their men. Women during that time agreed to whatever marriage plans their parents have for them. Among the most common reasons for arranged marriages during this era are money and social status.

Arranged marriages are still popular among Muslims in the Philippines and in other countries. A Muslim man can choose his bride provided he (including his family) can raise the bride-wealth. Arranged marriages have never gained traction in America because of the people’s liberality and penchant for freedom, including the freedom to choose one’s bride or groom.

The Sand Ceremony – A Beautiful Ritual For Your Wedding

Executive summary about sand ceremony by Kathleen Ball

sand unity ceremony

sand unity ceremony

My niece introduced me to the Sand Ceremony. Briefly, here is the idea behind and the components needed for a Sand Ceremony.

1. The Sand Ceremony: Like the Unity Candle Ceremony, the Sand Ceremony symbolizes two individuals becoming one. In one way, you have two smaller vases containing sand and one empty, larger container. The two individual containers represent the bride and groom and their individual families, friends, and lives. The empty larger container represents marriage. During the ceremony, the bride and groom pour their individual vases of sand together into the larger container symbolizing that their individual lives are now forever intertwined.

2. Vases and Sand: You can be quite creative with your vases and sand. The sand can be plain sand that you purchase at a hobby store or it can be colored sand or it can be sand that you collect from places that are meaningful to you. So if you are looking for an alternative to candles, consider the Sand Ceremony. And my niece, she and her fiancee choose a family heirloom clear glass vase and sand from their favorite beaches for their ceremony.

Unity Sand Ceremony – A Hot, New Wedding Trend

Executive summary about sand ceremony by Sharon Vaz

Rather than the time-honored ritual of the Unity Candle Ceremony, the famous couple chose the alternative, Unity Sand Ceremony. A staple in marriages everywhere, The Unity Candle Ceremony has long been a tradition for marriages both elaborate and simple. Parents or other members of the wedding party often join in the candle lighting ceremony.

The Unity Sand Ceremony can also be altered in many ways to include family and friends. Besides the bride and groom, various colors of sand are given to wedding members who will add their sand to the couple’s sand, all flowing into the container, creating a colorful and one-of-a kind symbol of unity.

In an age where couples are planning weddings that are unique to their beliefs and lifestyle, the sand ceremony can be personalized many different ways to fit the occasion. After the ceremony, the couple has a unique keepsake to remember their wedding day.

Sand is available online, or the couple can use sand from a destination they’ve visited or that has a special meaning in their lives. Many couples write their own vows for the ceremony, but passages from ancient Hawaiian or Native American weddings can easily be found on the Internet for the portion of your wedding relating to the Unity Sand Ceremony.

Whatever your dream wedding entails, consider incorporating the Unity Sand Ceremony into the celebration.
